Deepa D. Raizada
Deepa D. Raizada is one of the world’s most accomplished professionals in ocular prosthetics, maxillofacial prosthetics, and clinical anaplastology. She completed her Diploma and Clinical Fellowship in Optometry at L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), India in 2003, followed by her Bachelor’s degree from Madurai Kamaraj University in 2006.
Deepa pursued advanced international training and earned her Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Maxillofacial and Craniofacial Technology from King’s College London, UK (2010–2012)—one of the world’s most prestigious programs—where she trained exclusively in maxillofacial prosthetics.
She is an Associate Member of the Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists & Technologists (AIMPT), UK since 2014, and an Active Member of the International Anaplastology Association (IAA), USA since 2009.
Deepa achieved historic milestones by becoming:
Asia’s First Board Certified Clinical Anaplastologist (CCA)
India’s First Woman to earn the American Board Certification in Clinical Anaplastology
India’s First Woman to become an American Board Certified Ocularist (BCO)
One of only three individuals in the world to hold both CCA and BCO certifications
Her achievements placed India among the top five nations globally to have a Board Certified Clinical Anaplastologist—an extraordinary contribution to the field.
Deepa completed her Board Certification in Ocularistry (BCO) from the National Examination Board of Ocularists (NEBO), USA in March 2018.
Her foundational training in ocularistry began at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, followed by advanced training in Ocular Prosthetics at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London (May–July 2005) under the mentorship of Mr. Nigel Saap.
From 2003 to 2010, she served as an Ocularist at LVPEI, where she developed innovative techniques in the fabrication and fitting of ocular and facial prostheses. Her work received national and international recognition for its precision, aesthetics, and patient‑centric outcomes.
Her clinical interests include:
Facial prosthetics (eye, ear, nose, orbital prosthesis)
Pediatric ocular prosthetics
Advanced silicone prosthesis fabrication
Digital and magnetic prosthetic systems
Research in new materials and techniques for maxillofacial prosthetics
Deepa Raizada has been honored by the Oculoplasty Society of India, Indian Optometric Association, and several international organizations for her excellence in research, innovation, and clinical practice.
